At Lockwood Family Dental, our priority is to make your visit as comfortable as possible. We understand many patients experience dental anxiety, and we offer sedation dentistry to help ease your stress, ensuring you receive the care you need without discomfort or fear. Our dental team, including a board-certified anesthesiologist, is committed to providing safe and effective sedation options tailored to your needs.
Sedation dentistry may be right for you, if you:
- Experience dental anxiety or fear
- Have a sensitive gag reflex
- Require extensive dental treatment
- Need assistance staying comfortable during your visit
Sedation Dentistry Options
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
This mild sedation is inhaled through a small mask, helping you feel relaxed and at ease during your treatment. The effects wear off quickly, so you can safely drive yourself home afterward.
IV Sedation
Administered directly into your bloodstream, IV sedation provides deeper relaxation. While you’re still conscious, many patients feel so comfortable that they fall asleep or don’t remember the procedure. You will need a driver to take you home after your appointment.
General Anesthesia
This form of sedation puts you completely to sleep during the procedure and is typically used for more complex treatments. You’ll need someone to drive you home and stay with you while you recover.
